Project1 -Translating Print to Web

The purpose of this assignment to take a previously created print project and redesign it for web presentation.

The original print project was a book cover:

Redesign 1:

Redesign 2:

Redesign 3:

Redesign 4:

Redesign 5:

I think the biggest challenge for me in this redesign was that the images and colors used in the original book cover weren't very appealing. Also, there was a lot of copy to arrange into the area.  It was interesting going from a rectangular format to basically a square.

Because of this, I did find it difficult at first to get ideas and come up with anything I was comfortable presenting.  I'm pleased with the outcomes, though.  I feel I was able to keep the feel of the original piece.  I hope you think so too! ; )

The overall presentation for all of the layouts is nice. The colors are not that appealing. Redesign 4 is my favorite because of the simple color scheme and simple layout. The layouts have a nice hierarchy, which makes it easy to find the information. They are all organized well and look like they are designed on a grid, which will make it work for the web.

1 and 2 are your most successful layouts. They all work, however. They are a nice transition from the original format. I agree that the colors could be worked on since they look more like they were made for an advertisement (which a book cover is technically).

Especially the yellow I've seen a lot on advertisements. That in-your-face-yellow; I like it on the original format but it seems misleading on a website. If a viewer looks at the website they might see it as an advertisement and get turned off. Otherwise nice!
